Hassocks Ladies Football Club

Club History

At the start of the 1998/99 season Southdown FC formed a girl's team at U14 level and entered the very competitive League gaining valuable experience. The team went on to the following season and at U15 level won both the League and Cup.

At that time there was no real facility for the team to play Girl's football at U16 level and although broadly made up of 15 and 16 year old players the Club formed Southdown Ladies FC and entered the South East Counties Women's League in 2000/01 in Division 3 South.

In their very first season playing Ladies football the club gained promotion to Division 2.

In the 2001/02 season the Club reached the final of the Sussex Women's County Trophy only to be narrowly defeated by Brighton and Hove Albion.

At the start of the 2002/03 season the club were invited to become Hassocks Ladies and in that same season were promoted to Division 1 having finished as runners up behind Upper Beeding.

After only two seasons in that Division the Club were promoted to the Premier Division.

At the end of the 2005/06 season the Manager who had been with the Club since U15 girls retired and the present Manager Tom Reynolds was appointed having already spent some years as assistant
