Bexhill Ladies FC 3 - Hassocks Ladies FC 1

2 March 2008

With Hassocks having putting in such a strong performance the week before at Chichester, it was hard to believe that they could play so badly at Bexhill only 7 days later . Admittedly Hassocks had several core players missing and the influential Emma Young had to be replaced at half time through injury but they should have been equipped to compete with a side languishing in the relegation zone. In truth Hassocks never really started to play or get into the game. They became frustrated that Bexhill could not keep the ball on the ground and took every opportunity to hoof it forward each time it broke to them in their half. Hassocks also allowed themselves to be rattled by the verbal tactics of their opponents but they need to learn to adapt to all different types of challenges in the Premier Division and the fact that Bexhill were seemingly incapable of stringing two passes together should not have stopped Hassocks taking advantage when they were in possession. With Bexhill in such a precarious position and facing relegation for the second season running no one can blame them for adopting whatever tactics they could to get some points. Only Liz King, Alison Dudley, Charlotte Deeley and Amy Hooper emerged from the game having given something of a performance of which they are capable. Katie Harding scored the consolation goal for Hassocks who face League leaders Wandgas at the Beacon on Sunday.
