Hassocks Ladies FC 3
Chichester City Ladies FC 3

20 April 2008

Hassocks Ladies sent Chichester City Ladies closer to the relegation trapdoor with a entertaining but heartstopping 3 -3 draw at the Beacon
In a game that saw Hassocks have long periods of dominance they could not make the chances count as Chichester to their credit defended with their lives as they sought to get the points they so desperately need.

As in the reverse fixture Hassocks went behind to a penalty that was hard to argue with but they fought back soon after with Kate Harding taking on the defence and putting the ball across the face of goal for a simple tap in from Colette Barry. In the second half again despite for the most part bossing the game Hassocks giftwrapped and presented two goals to Chi and despite having been ill all week and clearly under par Harding raced on to a through ball bullied her way past the defence to score her 32nd goal of the campaign.
Still one goal behind the normally mild tempered Harding was incensed as a cast iron penalty shout was waved away by the referee. Still smarting from that decision Harding levelled the scores in the 89th minute with a goal that was sublime even by her high standards. From an Emma Young penetrating corner Harding hit the ball on the volley over the desparing head of the Chi Keeper.

On Sunday Hassocks face the Premier Division Champions Wandgas Ladies at the Beacon
