Whitstable Ladies 0
25 November 2007
Hassocks Ladies kept another clean sheet at home as they completed the season double over Whitstable in what turned out to be an ill tempered and feisty match where it was suprising to still have 22 players on the pitch at the end of the game. Hassocks quickly settled into their rhythm and were passing the ball about confidently but just could not make their superiority count in the final third until Laura Turner played the killer ball from midfield to leave the Whitstable defence helpless as Katie Harding latched on to the pass to take the type of chance she thrives on. Despite having the upper hand Hassocks could not extend their lead in the first half largely due to the resolute defending of the visitors. The second half started with Whitstable upping their game and trying to apply pressure but the Hassocks back line of Sonya Nye, Alison Dudley, Amy Hooper and Sam Newman who are growing in stature and confidence with every game restricted Whitstable to a few long range shots that were comfortable gatherd up in goal by Connie Coppinger who was not seriously troubled all afternoon. Hassocks added another when the ball was played out of defence in a flowing move to player of the match Vicky Preece on the left who delivered an inch perfect pass for Harding to score her second of the game. It was the killer blow as far as Whitstable were concerned and Hassocks just had to retain their composure and keep the ball to see out the game.
